Dual-Season Prog Needs 1 - Draft under way Topic

This is a progressive league that begins with seasons 1968 and 1998. We are entering Season 14, with 1981 rookies and the entire pool of 1951 players available. We are finishing up 1980/2010, and will first have a draft of all available 1981 players and all players whose first WIS season was 1951. After that, there will be a random-order draft of all other players with seasons in 1951, so teams will be restocking. This league is half live, half non-live. Live players are in the AL, with no minimum number of live games required, and a transaction deadline that limits live play.

Draft times will be 10AM ET to 10PM ET everyday. Only players that are WIS eligible for a certain draft are available. If you're unavailable for your draft time send proxies to other available owners, particularly owners drafting after you. If teams miss their draft times, picks can be made up anytime. If selections aren't made by the following draft day the commish has the right to make up these picks.

Drafts will be based on reverse order of standings after 120 games. 1-24, 1-24. Teams must have a minimum 30 wins at this point or will lose one draft position for every win below this plateau. Draft-order ties determined first by head-to-head (worse record picks first), then by away record. There will be an add/drop period starting a half-hour after the last scheduled pick. First-come, first-serve. The draft board will probably not be updated during the add/drop, so be sure the guy you want is really available.

Cap is $255M. No to AAA, WW and DH. Yes to trades including draft choices. Draft choices can only be traded one year ahead. If RL team changes park you must change park. Use RL team city name. Use any nickname.

Teams will post unlimited protected lists near the end of the season including up to 2 spots for injured players or those who miss WIS eligible seasons.

First-year 1951 players will be drafted as usual, worst-to-first, along with the 1981 players. There will then be a random-order, snake-style draft of all other 1951 players.

It picks second in the first phase of the draft, which is all 1981 free agents and all players whose first WIS season is 1951. Those two pools of players will be chosen from first. Following that, there will be a random-order, snake-style (1-24, 24-1) draft of all other players with seasons in 1951. The order for the latter draft will not be randomized until we are full and ready to draft, so at the moment nobody knows where he will be picking in that phase of the draft.

Unless I'm mistaken, pick #2 in the rookie draft will get you Mantle or Mays ...

Or, for the entertainment value, Billy Martin.

Is that franchise on the live side?

It can be. Not right now because I had it as a second team. We'll be realigning somewhat if needed.

Hey josh, I'm sorry I've taken so long to get keepers in to you.  I'll do it ASAP, though - don't replace me if you can help it!

Welcome kleine and jeff, both of you should now have access to the private forum and can post keepers there. No problem dahs. I'll update the draft thread in the privtae forum, and hopefully we can get going with the draft in the next 24 hours.

Need an owner for Pittsburgh (Forbes Field). cleonjones' team but he never posted keepers and has not responded to sitemails. I just chose Dave Stewart as a first-round pick. This franchise traded away Chambliss and its 2nd-round pick in the 1951/81 first phase of the draft and 3rd-round pick in the second phase of the draft in exchange for kleinevoet's 4th-round pick and Eddie Murray.
