Two spots are open in the Allen D3 North Atlantic Conference. The NAC has been a top 3 conference in Allen for the past 20 seasons. Last season the conference was top dog and finished the season with the all-time D3 #6 conference RPI rating.
The conference features an excellent group of coaches including three that have won D3 championships in Allen and three other coaches that have championships on their resume from other worlds.
Our Coaches Corner is quite lively as well -- I'm pretty sure we have more discussion in ours than any of the other D3 conferences in
Last season seven teams made the National Tournament and two made it to the final four. In total, $5,750 was earned in postseason money per team. Even if the conference itself wasn't an excellent reason to join, the recruiting boost most definitely is.
The $5,750 is on the high side but it is not a complete fluke either. The season before resulted in a $5,000 bonus. The future also looks quite strong as the $5,750 figure came with last season's average NAC roster only featuring 2.2 seniors. The conference is built for long term success.
The two current open spots are Johnson State and Salem Sate.
Johnson State has 6 openings so will have $24,000 for recruiting. It won't take long to put your input on the program with that kind of money. Johnson State has been Sim AI for quite some time and the roster is a bit of a mess. Probably only one of the six Sim AI players on the roster is any good so it will be a struggle to compete initially. It also allows the incoming recruits to hit the court running without any second thoughts so there is opportunity there as well.
Salem State has 2 openings and $12,000 for recruiting. Salem State has drifted between Sim AI and one-and-done coaches recently. The current roster features 2 human recruited seniors that are ok post players, 3 Sim Ai recruited juniors that are a bit of a mess, and 5 human recruited sophomores that look like they might be ok based on how they finished their freshman season. (None are stars right now but assuming they have growth in them, some of these should be decent players.)
Both rosters are in for a bit of hurt this season so if you are looking to join Allen and quickly make the jump up the ladder, neither of these openings are going to be for you. But if you are thinking about adding a D3 team to your resume, there probably isn't a better opportunity in Allen than these two programs.
