The curse is broken! Topic

Finally.  Not even close to the best team I've had, but whatever it takes to get over the hump...

congrats! i had like 4 straight 2nd round losses at my first school, even with a couple teams in the top couple in the country, i too struggled to make the sweet 16. once i did, the floodgates opened. and i lost my first S16 appearance game too. so, hopefully the floodgates are about to open!

But you forget to mention that you lost to a team from the greatest D3 conference ever!!!

i beat laverne too and lost in the first round.  i beat laverne with my very average bethel team when uglyskunk went 34-1 and won the title.  it doesnt mean anything.  you've played enough to know that even better teams can lose.  theres no such thing as "the team wasn't good enough to beat mine"

20% is a fairly significant percentage.  sorry, our whole conference checked out that game ahead of time and we all felt like they had a chance to beat you.  and they did.  no need to be bitter about it.  your first post about it made it sound like it was some garbage team you lost to, and the fact is, it wasn't, whether yours may have been better or not.

put up some rosters and let us decide :)

obviously you two are both biased

i'm making you bitter?  do you want a tissue?

tianyi, it wasn't my team so i'm not biased at all.  was dahs team better?  sure.  was it a slam dunk win?  not a chance.  would he win by an average of 15 points if they played 100 times?  no way.  he just thinks they were world beaters because they went 30-0 in a crap conference and won a couple of good games in OOC.

i should probably stop before i make him more bitter.

I don't remember each matchup, but I know I posted on our board before that game saying I though Cal Tech had a decent chance of winning that game. When I looked at your team I was pretty surprised you were 30-0. I actually think you beating La Verne that season was a bigger upset than Cal Tech beating you. No disrespect to you, but I do think you are overrating how good that team was.

Being the coach of that team that should have lost by 15, and gameplanned for that game, I had the edge at more than one position, and while I was surprised at the outcome, I went on to the elite 8 along with 3 other teams from our conference. Not really seeing why you have a legitimite gripe about it. Could say more, but kmason and bow have said enough.

At C where I had the conference POY in the best conference (by far) and 1st team all-american and at SG (this year playing PG where he could be conference POY in possibly the best conference of all-time), I really don't remember, because I don't remember every single game. Especially since I played 2 more games after that.

The only reason for the dig is because you're going to the forums about how I shouldn't have beat you after I gave you props (more than once).

Hmmm.  I never mentioned you, and very few people probably were aware of it.  But if you saw it that way, I'll take down all my posts referencing it.  I respect you as a coach and didn't mean it any way as an attack on you or your team.
5/4/2011 7:28 PM
No reason to do that. I'm just saying I said you were a better coach than me before the game and then almost a month after, you're saying you should've won by 15.
5/4/2011 7:31 PM
I'm not that good of a coach.  That's why it hurts when I have a team capable of making a deep run and it doesn't.  I feel fairly confident that you're a better coach than I am.
