Wanted to confirm a few things before my first DI season..

1. Only one ineligible at a time would show up to campus, correct?

2. A player who was a nonqualifier in his first season can not be redshirted in a later season?

3. Ineligible players do not improve during their first season, so all minutes should go to SH?

Yes.

Another key is that they need a 2.7 to get a 5th year and in their 2nd year (first eligible year) they expect sophomore minutes.

A lot of the big time programs don't go after them, my first great big at Wichita State was an ineligible PF from New Mexico named Don Baker.  I remember staying up to see if he showed up on campus :)  he ended up getting drafted.

thanks. Is there a consensus as to whether or not increased recruiting effort beyond the amount necessary to sign a recruit would have any effect on whether or not the ineligible would show up?

Some say yes, some say no.  I have only recruited the 1 and put enough to get a "high priority for Wichita State" message.  He showed up.

The 2.7 GPA is only required at DI. At the DII level all a player needs is a 2.0. At the DIII level the player is eligible immediately and does not sit out a season. Also, at DI it is the player's option whether to return or not.

Another point to remember when making promises of starts/minutes is that there is a small chance the player will pass his SAT and become eligible. If that happens. he will expect those promises to be kept. Otherwise, using them is a sneaky way to win the player and not have to pay up. If the player remains ineligible, the promises do not carry over.

The #1 factor for a recruit showing up is school prestige vs. how good the player is. Money spent may have some impact but it's minimal.

According to CS, #1 is false:

I realize this is an old ticket, but I wanted to confirm something: In this original ticket message, I mentioned that I had tried to sign 2 ineligible players in the same season. I am seeing from people on the forum that no more than 1 ineligible player per season will report to campus under any circumstances. Is this true, and if so, couldn't someone have mentioned that in the reply to my original message, since it is likely that is what lead to my desired ineligible not reporting since another player already had? Here I am thinking I just need to spend more, and maybe I do, but the scenario I described couldn't work at all if indeed only 1 ineligible per season is allowed.

No, that's not true. Each player makes his decision independently.

Yes. It is happening right now at Ohio St. in Allen.
