WE vs Scouting Service Topic

It's been a while since I played much. I just wanted to know from the vets, how much does WE matter now that the scouting service gives individual report?

Just wanted to know the nuances. Is it a dead rating like durability or does it work with the scouting service?

Any input would be great

definitely NOT a dead rating. It's still extremely important. It doesn't affect how high a player can get in a particular category, but it DOES affect how fast they reach their cap, and even if they will reach their cap at all. It also affects IQ's and grades. Most coaches won't take a kid below 20 in WE, although it varies a bit

That used to be my rule. Nothing below 20 d3, 30 d2, and 40 d1.

I just wasn't sure since it had been 2 years since I've played.

I'll take as low as 25 in WE but it's a detriment to their progress

It depends.  I took a guy with a 7 WE this year in D1.  He was the #14 SG and I signed him for $1200.  I expect him to gain 10-15 points a year and lose em during the offseason.  But that's ok, he is already at a level where he can be a decent 3 point shooter off the bench, and for $1200, that is worth it to me.  If he ends up starting, maybe I get that 7 WE up to a 10 or so.

It seems I'll take as low as 15.  Here is an example of a guy who has played a prominent role on my Maryland team in spite of a low WE:

when we signed him, he looked like this:

if Maas had a WE of 30 or so to start, he'd probably be better almost across the board.  But since he was an adequate role-player/scorer when we first signed him, and got immediate playing time, his role has grown with the needs of the team in spite of his relatively limited growth as a player.  He now has an A-minus in our offense and defense.
