Losing senior SF and my Jr. backup sucks... Topic

I will lose (graduate) my stud SF after the current season and the backup is kinda worthless (very poor PE) below average everywhere else. Thus I don't play him much. I'm giving minutes to my frosh who has a much better combined LP/PE than the Jr. schmuck.

The schmuck SF has emailed to complain about PT and I though of bumping it but he's really not a good player.  Am I wise to give the PT to the frosh over the schmuck and just let the schmuck transfer if he chooses?  know overall isn't a good indicator but the Jr. is 484 and the Frosh is 438, so they're not that far apart.

I'd let the freshman play.  He really is better than the junior.

If the schmuck will be needed next season, you could let him backup versus really weak teams. You can also give him more minutes by putting him at the bottom of your depth sheets at more than one position

Finally, since you didn't recruit him, you can cut him at the end of the season with no penalty. You will not, however, get extra recruting money for that slot

I'm not sure I'd call the senior a stud.  He's alright, not a bad scorer and a good part of any team's offensive strategy, but his ATH/DEF combo is horrendous, and he's a liability on that end of the court.  Way below average.  For a sim recruit, though, you'll definitely take him.  I'd play the freshman.  You're going to need to do some rebuilding with that team, and frankly you're going to want to bring in your own players as quickly as possible.  It's very unlikely that you have a NT team next year (might well be good enough for a PIT appearance and possibly solid run, though), so frankly the best possible outcome is probably that the guy decides to leave and you get to recruit a guy of your own with the recruiting money you'll get when he leaves.  He probably won't do it, but I'd say it's good for you if he does.

Thanks for the info!

I will bench the schmuck and give more minutes to the frosh who will hopefully increase his WE too.

al, I may be wrong but I believe that you can only cut players with no penalty during your first offseason/recruiting session at a school. I'm fairly sure that I've cut players following my first season or two as coach at a school and took a reputation hit even though I did not originally sign the player.

there is a penalty the first season, too. i have encountered it twice now, after cutting 3 players in both cases.

Odds are he won't transfer. I've benched scrub recruits that were on my team when I got there a bunch of times and have never had one transfer because of the lack of PT, no matter how much they complain they decide to stay.

crud.

How does the penalty for cutting a player affect you/recruiting?
