It's not too late to join Tark's USA South! Topic

Three seasons ago I organized an influx of human coaches into this conference.  In each of the first 2 seasons following this influx the conference was 2nd in Conference RPI in Tark D3.  Last season we dropped to #3, but USA South teams closed out the PIT Final and narcotico's uber-famous Greensboro team got 2/3 of the way to it's 3rd 3-peat in 16 seasons.  Active Coach's Corner and a heated rivalry with perennial top-conference ODAC make this a particularly attractive conference in which to coach.  The available programs are as follows:

Oglethorpe - this is probably the most attractive opening, so I'm listing it first.  Last year Oglethorpe had it's first human coach in a long time.  They parlayed the new leadership into a 26-8 record and an appearance in the PIT Championship Game.  5 seniors will be graduating, so there will likely be some dropoff this season; however, the previous coach recruited 5 good-looking freshmen and 2 sophomores last year who, with your recruits this offseason, should provide the foundation for a very successful program 2-3 seasons from now.  This team can be very quickly grown into a contending program.

Piedmont - this is another school that can be made competitive very quickly.  Has been human-coached for the past 14 seasons and has been in the postseason for 7 years running.  With 6 graduating seniors and 2 walk-ons, you'll be able to put your mark on this team very quickly.  B- prestige isn't elite, but it's not C- either and you should be able to bring in a class that will help you win quickly.

N. Carolina Wesleyan - this one could require you to live through some pain before seeing success.  Only one graduating senior and a huge sim-recruited returning sophomore class mean you'll be either making some cuts and recruiting on a tiny budget or living with some poor players for the next 3 seasons.  This year's postseason success should help some if you want to drop 1 or 2 of the sophs for more-talented recruits of your own choosing.  One bright spot - the handful of upperclassmen were recruited by dukenilnil and are solid leaders.

Ferrum - this struggling program went 3-24 last year en route to an RPI north of 300.  On the bright side, they will be graduating 5 seniors, so you can quickly bring in a group of your own talent to develop.  On the darker side, the remaining players are 5 freshmen and 2 sophomores, and most of them aren't very good at all.

Why would they head to the USA South when there's an ODAC opening?  Also, it definitely isn't too late because it is too early, new coach signups start tomorrow!

Never too early to plan ahead tk.  How many NCs has the ODAC won in the past 2 years?  Answer: none, the NT was too busy being dominated by a USA South team!  Not to mention the PIT closeout this past year...

Congrats on having the 65th best team, quite an accomplishment. If people want to play in the USA south and get beat by narco every year, they should do it. If they want to be part of a fantastic conference (#1 in RPI the past four years, #7 all-time this past year) with the best CC in HD, they should probably join the ODAC.

Unless I'm mistaken, no less than 4 of the ODAC's postseason teams were eliminated by USA South programs.  If it were me, I'd join the USA South.  I'd go to Oglethorpe and Piedmont.  Those schools are in Georgia.  Frankly, trying to recruit in VA/WV/NC/SC area in Tark is rough.  Not as bad as NY in Wooden, but rough.  Huge number of human coaches in Virginia and the Carolinas and a lot of them are A and B prestige programs.

So the faint of heart should go to the USA sac, but anyone up for a fun challenge should pick up Guilford.

One great team doesn't make a conference great narco. You have the best d3 program ever, but we have one helluva conference.

Unless I did my math incorrectly, even taking out Narcotico's NCs, USA South still has 1 more NC than ODAC?

That is correct tianyi!  Helloflyers had one at Chowan a while back.  Not too long a while, though.  And he's still coaching at the school!

Come join us in the USA South. It's a fun league and you can experience this sampling of love from the ODAC 24/7 :)

It's all in good fun pjbrankin, it might sound chippy to an outsider but our two conferences are huge rivals, recruit in the same territory, have a challenge series, and basically trash talk each other all the time...luckily it's always been taken in good humor.

Honestly though a coach couldn't go wrong in either conference, both are competitive and fun.

Indeed Narco, we are friendly rivals :)

To be perfectly honest, you can't really go wrong in either conference.  Plenty of long term coaches to ask questions of and learn the WIS HD game.

The USA South coaches are horrible people, but you will have fun with the various rivalries they've established.  It's been rumored that Narco double dips at social gatherings.  And I once saw Rednu not wash his hands after using the restroom.
