High Potential - Low Starting Value Topic

How does this work with potential? If I am looking at (recruiting) a player with a high high potential in a core skill (rebounding or low post for a PF or C, passing, BH, PE for a PG or SG), but the current value for that skill is very low (say 25), will that player actually improve all that much in that skill, assuming a good or decent WE? Is it realistic to expect an increase over four years from 25 to 50, 60, or 70? Or am I really looking at a guy that won't top 40 in that skill?

If it matters, I am in DI.

Thanks for any thoughts.

If the skill level is low enough that 20 points of improvement (the minimum for high potential) won't get him where you need him, then you need to do some scouting visits to see if his potential is High or High-High... there's a list somewhere of the messages for high-high, but basically anything in ALL CAPS or with *asterisks* around it indicates high-high.

This means he'll grow 26+ points, and sometimes as much as 50+...

I have had a 25 in PER that ended over ninety.  Its possible.

Thanks for the responses. I signed the player (a SF). His LP is a high high 29 with a 60 WE. We'll see how it ends up... He also has a high high PE at 45 right now. He also will rebound like crap.

I had a center last year with 99 WE with high high LP potential go up 26 points his freshman season. (and he got pretty much no playing time).  his eval said Sky's The Limit.  I believe he started low 40's.  With offseason progression, he starts his soph year at 70.
