63(81) means he's already had some recovery cycles, so the other owner probably didn't see the trade accepted in time to take the guy out.  He'll be 81(100) next cycle.  If you're still in spring training anyway, why is it a big deal?

I usually pull guys, unless I'm in an innings crunch, and will let the other owner know.

I rest my guys if possible.   In part because I don't want the deal to get voided due to injury.

Coupla points.
1)  If you are trading with a contender and you are receiving a major league player and it's the regular season, I don't think it's reasonable to ask the other guy to rest his player.
2)  Regarding SPs-- sometimes you accept the trade and the other guy doesn't know it until the SP is locked in.  That might have happened in your case, although if it were me and I were thinking clearly I'd at least drop the ptich count to 40.
