DI recruiting with D- prestige... Topic

After getting UConn in Rupp heading back in the right direction, I have decided to take on a new challenge... I just took over Quinnipiac in Iba and they have a D- prestige. It's been a long time since I have been at a school with such a low prestige at DI and was just looking for some pointers on the range of the recruits I will have a shot at and any other little tips for a D- prestige school. TIA

With a D prestige at TAMCC I recruited a couple guys in the 70's at their position and a couple guys around 100 at their position. The 70-ish guys had to be pulled down.

also, don't invest too much too early on anyone, because it's so common for the A/B schools to swoop in and take whoever they want from the D schools. I learned that the hard way.

Thanks, that was exactly the type of info I was looking for. Especially the part about investing too early in players

I actually think there were in the 60's now that I think about it. Probably upper 60's.

Believe it or not, there is definitely a difference in what you can recruit with a D- vs. a D. I would ask billyg, he just recruited wtih a D- in Rupp.

Don't be afraid to take a walk-on. It's best to not waste any scholarships so instead of taking 3-4 players that you kind of like, go after 1-2 that you really like and softly go after some others that are ranked low and haven't been noticed. If you have some cash left and you want to keep that 25%, ya know, just recruit a Senior transfer for really cheap. That's the ideology I used to turn around my George Mason team.

ok so here is an update of how my recruiting went...  I ended up cutting 2 players and still managed to fill all 4 open spots that I had. I really didnt try to go after any players that were ranked as I felt that with such a low prestige I would be out of my league and I got rejected a few times. I ended up with 1 international player (Ortiz) and one player who accepted my plans to redshirt (Bessette). Even though none of the players were ranked I do feel like they will be very good down the road as all of them are High potential in the key categories for their positions. For those that helped me thanks and here are the player scouting reports

Brown
Bessette
Dailey
Ortiz

Brown is probably the gem of the class, but if Bessette and Dailey have some high-highs, they'll obviously be very good players as well. I like that you took a chance on an International as well. I have yet to venture out of the 360 miles in my ventures.

I hate you. I spent a lot of money pulling Brown down and when I did BAM! haha just kidding man. Looks like a solid class though
