Lineup question Topic

Can any of my PF's on TAMCC be a viable first or second option at SF next season? Not quite sure what a minimum speed/BH/P should be in D-I. I was also considering sliding Isley over to the starting SF spot and running 3 guards, which would give me a decent amount of depth at PF/C. Maybe then I could slide Jones or Beaton over to backup SF to increase their minutes. Thoughts?

Beaton looks like he's on the way to having the ATH/SPD, but he doesn't have the ball skills. I would slide Isley over to the 3, Murdock to the 2, and start Rowe at PG with very low distribution.

Best case scenario would be for you to pick up a JUCO or Transfer SF that already knows your Off/Def. Even if it is just a guard with 25+ REB. This can be difficult and use up some funds so if you can't find one, I would just recruit a freshman SF with high potential as a backup.

Yeah, the plan is definitely to recruit a SF this off season. What would you say are the minimum BH skills to play SF?

Could Beaton play backup SF?

Well there are three different types of small forwards you can play with (Adjusted for low DI).

There are the converted guards:
  • Speed = 70s to 80s
  • Rebounding = 20s to low 30s
  • Ball Handling and Passing= 60s and Up
There are converted power forwards:
  • Athleticism = 60s and Up
  • Speed = 40s to 50s
  • Rebounding = High 50s to 60s
  • Ball Handling = High 30s to Low 50s
  • Passing = Low 40s to High 50s (Depending on Offense)
There are true small forwards:
  • Speed and Athleticism = 50s to 70s
  • Rebounding = High 30s to Low 50s
  • Ball Handling = Low 50s to 60s
  • Passing = 50s to 60s
So those are the basic ratings I look for. I don't have a great eye for true small forwards, but I have two guys that fit the converted guard mold well that played great for me last season: Cedric Simonetti and Robert Carroll. Obviously you aren't going to get guys that fit the mold perfectly, but as long as they compensate for weaknesses with great defense or scoring ratings, I'll take 'em.

I think Isley will be a very solid scorer. He still has some improvement left in lp and per, and he averaged 12+ as a sophomore. Jones' BH will get up into the 40's and possibly 50's, but his speed won't get past 45.

Yeah, I'm a fan of Isley. I think he would do great for you as a SF.

And if you do decide to start him at the 3, I would look into a true PG recruit who has high ath/spd/pas who can drive and dish because you will have capable scorers at the 2 and 3.

Rowe should get to 90 in speed, BH and pass. I would think he'd be more than adequate at PG with the scoring options I will have on the wing and in the post.

Murdock will be mid-80's in BH and pass with 60 ath and 70's speed. I kind of thought between the two of them, I'd be set at PG.

How would you further break down those numbers for D2 and D3, is it about a 10 point drop off per level?  Or is it maybe 10 from D1 to D2 then 15 from D2 to D3?

Yeah, I would say two 10 point drop-offs would make sense. But if you're going up to high Division I, then I would say there is about a 15 point bump and then for the elite A+ teams, closer to a 20 point bump.
