Will high potential/low work ethic players pan out Topic

I am currently recruiting a couple players. One with a WE of 25 and the other 32. Will these guys realize their potential without significant minutes until their Jr year.

depending upon how much potential they have and of course in part on their starting GPA and minutes they get, etc, it is generally hard to completely fulfill potetnial on low WE players. HOWEVER, if some of those high potentials are in secondary categories, you can typically max out the core stuff with careful practice management.
I prefer WE of 30 or above, so both your guys are in my "zone" if their cores are decent

Well Dac I guess they are project players, but would be monsters at my level if they pan out. With the secondary categories you mean categories which compliment each other such as speed/ath/stam under conditioning and shot block/defense under footwork?

No.  Secondary categories might be, for example, BH, Pass, Spd, and Per for post players or Reb and LP for guards, depending on your system and the makeup of your team.

I had a 26 WE point guard become a pretty good player. Make sure the starting core numbers are higher and, if you can, redshirt them.
Under 25, IMO, is too low.

I had a starting pg at the DI level start with around 630 overall... WE of 22. Ended up as a 880 all american.

How much PT do you think you can give him. If you can get him starts and 15mpg in his FR year, he can come close to maxing out by his SR year. Give him as much PT as possible in his FR year for the WE boost, which will help growth for the following 3 seasons.

I recruited a PG with 27 WE. 2 seasons later, he's at 40 WE and gained a total of 145 points.

I've been tracking my D2 squads, and as always, based on potential too, but my high WE guys improved 230+ points while my low guys were 160 or so by graduation.

well bad news fellas...One of my guys just got poached by an ACC school the cycle before signings. Still hasn't signed, but I don't think I'm going to get him.

guess he was a worthwhile recruit though

Well at least you handled the situation with maturity and class on the Metro and ACC CC's...

Oh, no, actually you didn't.  Nevermind.

At least you learned a lesson on posting about studly recruits while recruiting is still going on.

The player was rated 530! It was shocking. I lost higher rated players to the big 6 schools, but that guy??? Ry you must feel like a big man after that comment.

I feel huge, actually.

But I just ate a big lunch, so could be a combination of that.

if they're good enough to start as a freshman, i would even consider a WE in the teens.
