I have a solid prospect...80s+ in all major pitching categorys but 18 stamina. Would make an eventual solid late inning reliever. Question is this.. if he appears in say 35 games but limited in total number of ip. Will it slow improvement significantly. Player ex. Age 19, current 53 projected 71 makeup proj.97. Wondering if a short reliever with high makeup, patience can ever get close to projections due to a lack of total number of IP or is number of appearances a factor as well.

18 stamina isnt horrible.  You can use him as a regular starter.

With 18 stamina, your not using him as a starter, unless you want 2 innings and then done.  I think he might be talking about durability.

Anyway, your question is still not answered because I don't know lol.

What's the durability of this pitcher?

Dur proj is 56. Health is 98. Strictly an 8-9th inning guy. Would paste player if I could but using phone. To clarify question. In regards to reaching potential...is the playing time factor determined by innings pitched or can number of appearances help. Since said player will only appear in a limited number of games, will that severely hurt the chances to reach potential regardless of makeup, good health, coaches, etc.

All you can do is get him the most action at 100%.   Not sure what else you need to know.

Looking for an owner who has successfully or not developed a low inning pitcher and if low appearances hinders development or not.

The guy will be fine.  I think the best way to get him the most innings during development is to use him as a SuA with a 20/25 (or maybe 15/20) pitch count.  That's how I get solid appearance and inning totals out of this guy:

The player you posted is a starter and you aren't getting solid inning totals out of him. He could pitch 140 innings.

Relief pitchers develope just fine. There isn't a set # of innings that are required of all pitchers across the board to develope fully that I can see. Seems more like a case by case basis, where RPs don't have to throw as much to develope.
You ought to be able to look at a bunch of 24-26 yr old RPs in your league and look at how they develope. My experience is that RPs end up no further from their projected numbers than SPs do.

Thanks. Great info.

Just set his usage and role the same as you would for a good setup A with pitch counts inline with his dur and staminia and he will develop fine.
