releasing a player who refuses his assignment Topic

quick question: If I want to demote a MLeaguer who has cleared waiver, but he refuses the assignment. If I release him, do I still owe him his salary?

Yes
really?  That stinks.  I think in real life, he is not owed his salary.  I wonder why HBD is different.

I think that's incorrect. He becomes a free agent, but I believe you do not relieve yourself of the responsibility to pay the contract.

HBD mirrors real life.  If the player refuses an assignment, you either keep him on the roster or release him, and releasing him is the same as if you hadn't tried to send him down.  There are hardly any situations in MLB where a player forfeits their salary.

Right. A contract is a contract.  Unless the guy kills his wife or robs a liquor store or something, a team can't just choose to stop paying him because his batting average isn't where the owner would like it to be.
