Losing Streaks Topic

We don't talk about winning streaks here. We'll complain about losing streaks, but winning streaks aren't mentioned. Doing so tends to invoke the forum posting jinx.

My bad I am still a forum rook. fine longest losing streak ever had or seen?

Dunno, but it was probably a losing streak brought on by invoking the forum curse.  The SIM gods are a wrathful and spiteful lot.

I'm currenlty playing in an OL where a nube (this is only his fourth team) has a 48 game losing streak and his season record is 10-101.  I think he may have given up....

That's nothing.  I was once in an OL where a guy went 0-162!!!!!!

I've seen those around, but I've never joined one.

I have played in a theme where you took a real life team and tried to win the same number of games they won in real life (the owners that went to the playoffs were the ones closest to the RL win total).  As I recall this was surprisingly easy to do, and probably half the owners finished with the exact same record or were within 1 game of it.

Has anyone ever started a theme league where everyone tries to lose?
jballot started a theme league where you get 15 random last place teams & you have to use players from those teams, no twisting!

Thats actually what I used to think SYN leagues were. That obviously isn't but I remember reading about such leagues. Always thought ti would be fun. I recall a minimum cap in most, I think you had to spend so much on offense and so much on pitching, and your star players had to get so many PAs or play in so many games etc...
Hmmm, I might consider starting one...

Yeah, it's a recurring league that comes around about once a year or so... Failure Gets You 7... Everybody ponies up a GC and the team that loses the most gets 7 GCs, 2nd most losses gets 4, etc... 8 worst teams make the playoffs (or 4 worst in each league depending on who's commissioner), and in the playoffs the winners of each series move on (or the losers depending on the commish). It's probably my single favorite league to play in. I've finished with the 2nd most losses twice and won one WS and lost another. I've also finished with over 100 wins once  (discovering a flaw in how the sim handled 0 fatigue pitchers after an update when I had the '04 Denny Stark Throw out the following:

Date                  %      IP        W L SV R     ER     H  HR SO BB  ERA OAV WHIP
Pre-Update Totals 0 (0) 426.99   36 16 0 1460 712 1312 71 4 492  15.01 0.451 4.22
Post-Update Totals 0 (0) 293.31   34 4 0 372 174 373 28 6 184 5.34 0.262 1.90
Season Totals 0 (0) 717.1   70 20 0 1832 886 1685 99 10 676  11.12 0.389 3.29

Including a stretch of 8 consecutive CG SHO after the update and before the fix).

After the WISC wraps up it would be a good time for another FGY7 league to run... And maybe another KOSC (low cap championship that runs about every two years with a $30, $40, $50 and $60m league).

But yes, there are usually rules about how many total $ must be spent on hitting and pitching (usually $78.5m total and $25m min for each hitting and pitching) and how many PA & IP each player must accrue in season to qualify for the playoffs (usually 150 & 75, respectively).

LMK if you start one booger, I'd probably be good at it!
