Leading the league in Errors?? Topic

I'm still relatively new to the game with the season two thirds of the way done this guy almost has twice as many errors as anyone else at second base, I know his range is slightly low, but what am I missing??  I mean I wasn't expecting a gold glove or anything but I thought he would easily be average to above average.   Hardball Dynasty – Fantasy Baseball Sim Games - Player Profile: Ramiro Perez

My second basemen this year (78 97 59 61) made 11 errors (.981 F%) and last year (87 84 59 66) made 10 errors (.977%)  in about the same number of games as  your guy.  Having a lot of GB pitchers can increase the error count because they see more plays.  You might compare fielding percentages to see if he does any better there. But the biggest red flag is that you've been playing him at 90% fatigue.  I don't have evidence to back this up, maybe someone else does, but it's always seemed to me that low fatigue affects performance in the field more than at the plate.  I seldom play guys at the BL level at less than 97-98%

Fatigue might be a significant factor, but also looks to me like you've just had bad luck.  This guy (http://whatifsports.com/HBD/Pages/Popups/PlayerProfile.aspx?pid=2388269), generally an above average fielder, inexplicably had a terrible season 18.  Perez's numbers are slightly atypical for a 2B, but overall they're better than average.  In any case, low range seems to primarily contribute to "-" plays.  Glove and Arm Accuracy have a greater impact on errors...and your guy is above average in those categories.

Yeah I realized the fatigue after I sent that, the guy to back him up has been on the DL the past week and for some reason I didn't have the SS scheduled to give him a break.  I'll sit him down for a few games and see if that can get him back on track.  I've never thought about the GB pitchers that's a very good point bc my SS has a lot of errors too with very good fielding numbers it may be as simple as their getting that many more balls their way.  I try to get GB pitchers to keep the ball in the yard, anyone else use that approach or am I overthinking things here??
