Rebounding in the fastbreak Topic

My Princeton team is playing pretty well but we are getting killed on the boards.

My best two rebounders have, what I think, pretty solid stats to be rebounders ( 78 ATH, 97 REB and  96 ATH 86 REB) but they are both down this year in rebounds per game and my team is at a -5 reb/g disadvantage.

Is this normal in a fast break offense?  I have been running it for a number of seasons but never really noticed it before.

Could it just be because I played good teams and they are just better than rebounding then I am?

I don't shoot a ton of 3's (16.5 per game) and my FG% is good but not great (47.8%).

What's up with this?

I've never played FB but I don't think your offense is supposed to have much, if any, impact on rebounding.  Running press OTOH will impact your rebounding relative to MTM.

I'm not in Rupp but looking at your numbers from a Naismith DI perspective I'd say your rebounding is pretty poor.  Only one 90+ guy; on top of that he's only playing 21.4 mpg.  Offut is good but playing less than 20 mpg.  Young is deficient in ATH and Tookes REB is not good for a C.

Furthermore you are not making up for it at SF where you are below average.  Your guards bring nothing to the table.

Frankly you just don't have the skills to be a good rebounding team.  You can sag to counteract it and that will help on the defensive end, nothing will help on the offensive end and there are drawbacks to playing -5 all the time.  I wouldn't sweat it too much because you are more than making up for it in TO differential.  You have more FGA and FTA than your opponents so the system is working.
