Should I bring this guy back next season? Topic

I've been playing this guy at SS for the last few seasons his OVR is much higher than you would think it should be.  I'm guessing he will want 8-9m in ARB next season.  I triesd to low ball arb him this season and he was awarded the 7+M that he wanted.  I'm fearful that he will want even more next season..  Is he worth the money or would you chase down a different option in FA?

My two cents...a guy like that is on your team (I'm assuming) because of his glove, not his bat, yet he comitted 30 errors and had 3 minus-plays last year.  For the amount of money he'll be asking, I'd find another option.

Agree with jcahill.

He's only had one minus play in his career before this year.  I would think his three minuses are aberations.  He's not bad.  Not worth 8 million.

Guy is not bad.  I'm actually surprised at how well he hits, given that Seattle is a pitcher's park (right?)  I would mind having this guy on my team, but I would want him for cheaper.  You can probably get numbers like his (and a little better defense) out of a SS platoon.  And those platoon players, you can get cheap.  Probably not more than $3mil combined for the two.

Here is half of my platoon, comparable to your guy:

We're only in S4 and there isnt much in the way of SS's in FA.. I'm thinking that i wll bring him back and allow him to leave next season as a TYPE A.. If nobody signes him I cand grab him back for cheap..

Also my team is pretty strong and very young. I can afford to pay him for 1 more year.

You could always release him before arb and see if you can resign him in FA for cheaper.

I wouldn't pay him more than about 4M.
