 Hardball Dynasty – Fantasy Baseball Sim Games - Player Profile: Keith Rosen

This guy was released last year, in the first year of a two-year contract.  I picked him up since I could use him at the league minimum for year #2.  He winds up rattling off 22 wins with a .214 OAV and was one of the top pitchers in the league.

Now he is looking for 2 years at $5 million per next year.  What do you guys think?  This team will need to sign a SP next year but is this guy worth $5 million?

That's an amazing year...22 wins in only 28 starts.  He walks lots of guys, but K's plenty and throws tons of GB's.

Rosen's ERA will be in the 4.5 range next year, maybe more....pretty safe bet. Is THAT worth $5M to you? 

Dresden and Bierbrodt MIGHT be that good.  Maybe.  And they will be minimum $ guys. 

But you just won 101 games.  You know that stuff.

I would probably pay the $5M and accept the 4.5 ERA.  Could you get somebody that cheap in theFA market?  Risky bet.

5M looks to be a little lower than I would expect him to get in the FA market.  I would sign him, he has good velocity and groundballs, adequate splits and 5 pitches.  Plus his health and makeup make him a safe bet to contribute and stay on the field.  Two years of all that isnt that big a risk.

I wouldn't expect the same year out of him though.  More like a 14 win pitcher.
