Practice Plan help Topic

I realize this is something that a coach with a season's worth of experience shouldn't need to ask in the forums, but any thoughts on how to set a practice plan for this guy:

Eric Kerney
C | 6'9" | 233 lbs. | 2.8 GPA
Riverside HS | Greer, SC
C - 455
Athleticism - 60 (High)
Speed - 16
Rebounding - 52 (High)
Defense - 65 (High)
Shot Blocking - 51 (High)
Low-post - 17 (High)
Perimeter - 11 (High)
Ball Handling - 12 (Low)
Passing - 10 (High)
Work Ethic - 30
Stamina - 62
Durability - 69 (High)
FT Shooting - 67.6%

All I have from my assistant coach is that the low post and passing are high/high.  Don't know about the rest of the high potential categories.

I devote 50 minutes to IQ.  Not sure it makes that much difference but my school runs flex/zone.

Any thoughts on how to distribute the other 80?

As a general rule, I'm keen on my bigs being able to pass the rock and while it's unusual for me to have a big with high potential in perimeter shooting, I suppose I'm just as keen on my bigs being able to hit a jumper.  But with the 30 work ethic (and the so-so HS GPA for what it's worth), I'm not sure if I should be devoting minutes to either of those two categories.  Since seble didn't really fix the "problem" with slow development on the low end of the scale, I figure if I ignore either category as a freshman I'm probably punting it since I would assume the rating would drop down to the 6-8 range and I further assume that with the low WE makes the category unsalvageable in future seasons.

I know I give more to Study Hall then most but I would go with 13 in SH, 10 in C, 10 in REB, 10 in DEF, 5 in LP, 5 in PER, 7 in BH (maybe just punt it), 10 in PASS and 10 in FT (assuming it's not low). This is just to start.

First thing I'd do is drop the IQ to 40-44 minutes.

But based on the 80 mins you currently have, and given the low work ethic, Id go with 8 in SH, 14C, 14REB, 12DEF, 17LP, 3PER, 0BH, 0PASS, 12FT.

In my mind you have to get the cores up as high as you can as fast as you can so that he can get on the floor and be a big contributor as quickly as possible...then you can develop the non-cores and make bring him to that next level as his WE goes up and you have to commit fewer mins to study hall and to some of the cores.

Those skills you don't train will lose a couple points, but they won't go down to 0 in a season and they're not going to grow any slower starting at 7 or 8 than they will at 11.
