I was knocked off the considering list on a guy this morning, and am debating whether to battle for the guy or not.

His word on the street says "other team" likes him, but he may not be a priority for them.

Other team has 4 schollies to give, and 4 guys considering them.  I'm just wondering how much effort they might have put forth to get that word on the street message.  I don't think I've seen it before.

It's a middle of the road message, more than "very open to other offers" and less than "very tight." If D3,  I would say he's put in at least 6 HV, probably in the vicinity of 8-10. 

That's what I was thinking.  I think I'll hold off and grab someone else.  I'd rather not risk it and keep some of that cash to carry over to next season.

And congrats on your national title in D3 Wooden!  You beat my La Crosse team pretty soundly early in the season.  You probably would have beat my D1 E. Tenn St team pretty soundly too!

I'm 99% sure that "says 'other team' likes him, but he may not be a priority for them" and "very open to other offers" are the same.

I say this because I have seen many times where a player has changed between the two of those from one WOS to the next without a lick of additional effort being put it. And I've seen it go from the first to the second, as well as from the second to the first. (And also because WIS very often has different messages meant to represent the same meaning.)

It seems that many people read too heavily into the exact verbiage. It means either tight or not tight. There are really only two messages.

I think there are 3 message levels. The minimal effort level, the very tight/high priority level, and the in-between "leaning" level. I've gotten the leaning message when I'm the only school considering, and haven't quite put in enough effort to get to the tight level. 

Maybe you are right girt, but I know the following to be the bare minimum in terms of effort:

"Had some attention from xxx but our sources say he's very open to other offers."
