there is no one answer to this question
if you are in the lead - and if you have been in the lead since rather early in the process, you should win without further effort
if the SIM was ahead for the first 24-36 hours, it could earn "considering credit" and eat into your lead, esp if that lead is small
also, others will look at your recruiting and see a battle - and perhaps see from FSS that you are just barely ahead - that CAN lead them to tactical decisions that you may not like - for example, they could say to themselves - hmm, he is just barely ahead of the SIM, I have a pile of cash and think I can spend MUCH more than the SIM spent and therefore much more than HE spent.....or they could think you are battling the SIM and attack some other recruit of yours OR they could see a battle and decide to stay away.....there is no one answer
