At a Crossroads Topic

I rarely ask for help, but I am at a crossroads in my Whatif career. As much as I love coaching in the current Crum league I am in (love the coaches there), North Texas will never go anyplace. I doubt seriously that I will be able to get an type of "decent" job in DI (by decent I mean a club like the UMBC club I built to a Final Four team). I believe I am hurting myself and my career immensely by staying at UNT. Should I stay at UNT, try a lateral move in a conference I can compete better in (if able), or drop down to DII and attempt to re-establish myself as a winning coach? My ultimate goal is to get a DI Big Six job, preferrably at Texas Tech, my alma mater. Any suggestions would help.

Hmmm tough question.  If you take a lateral move you are there for 4-5 seasons.  What's wrong with North Texas?  MWC seems medium full in your world, maybe that makes it hard.  If you had success in Maryland, maybe you do better in the more crowded east.

I would not move anywhere until you can consistantly win where you are now.  You've got good players coming back, and should win several games in conference next year.

I would recommend changing how to schedule non conference games.  You simply need to start scheduling some games you can win.

Yup I agree with most of what is posted here... If the 'lateral" move is a Big 6 job then go for it... however you are only hurting your chance to get to big 6 by going to d2.
