The Big Donkey = $1.6M Topic

After Adam Dunn's brutal 2011 campaign, I was curious about his WiS salary; turns out he's listed at around $1.6M.

Tempted to run a theme league where everyone has to use a hitter-killing park, use the 2011 Dunn, and require that he get 500 PA in order for a team to be playoff-eligible.  That would be pretty funny/painful to watch!

It was even more painfull to watch him play in the regular season.  He was close to beating the worst average ever for his plate appearances.

Yes, his season was historically bad. And even worse, the Sox paid him, what, $12 million? Wow.

it happens....no big deal, wait til end of next year before writing him off....

No big deal?  An OPS+ of 56 for a $12M batter is kind of shocking.

Of course, Chicago also has Alex Rios, who also made $12M in 2011.  His OPS+ was barely better at 65.

Carl Crawford at $14 Mil.....WIS $6.1 down to $3.1.....and I think they were kind to him in his fielding ratings, he looked awful all year in the field....

one of the worst "high" PA seasons ever.   Factor in his horrible defensive ratings (he is only usable at 1B) and the type of theme you're proposing is the only way he'll ever see the light of a roster.

and don't forget the 2011 Figgins... don't know how much he cost the RL Mariners, but a horrible season all in all.   How about a small cap 2011 team?

$23 Million for a pt Joe Mauer who hit 3 HR's. I'd just nominate the whole Twins roster for "overpaid of the year". Everytime they took the field someone new was hurt or sick. Being a Twins fan it hurt to watch 'em and made me sick. Truely a season to forget!
