Seble's 10/17 announcement Topic

First off, let me say that I sincerely appreciate the patience you've had with the lack of updates in recent months. I know it's been frustrating, and it has been for me too.

Over the next month or two we'll be working on an update including some of the lingering issues that seem to the most pressing. I wanted to give you guys some more details on what's coming. I'm not sure if these updates will come all at once, or spread out over that time period. There's also no guarantee that all of these items will be included in this release, but I believe most, if not all, will be. I already have quite a bit of feedback on most of these issues, but feel free to discuss in the forums. I will do my best to monitor and interact some in those conversations over the next few weeks.
  1. Improve the logic to determine a coach's success in the job process, specifically to incorporate more history
  2. Determine a better method of showing a player's ratings potential beyond the current "Player Thoughts" inbox message.
  3. Improve the calculation for loyalty adjustment when changing jobs
  4. Look into the draft early entry process to make it more fair and more predictable
  5. Improve the logic for tournament selection/seeding
  6. Adjust GPA logic to place more weight on study hall minutes and reduce randomness
  7. Create a page to track postseason resumes during the season
  8. Improve the logic for coach and player awards
  9. Improve the logic for players complaining about playing time
  10. A number of minor bug fixes and UI enhancements

*Seble. I either agree or understand most of this, but could you add one more improvement to the list either instead of, or in addition to the 10 above. I've talked with a lot of coaches and whether they are brand new, inbetwwen, or veterans, they all agree on this issue.

1. Improve the logic when the asst. coach is doing a scouting report, i.e.

You send your asst. coach out to scout a PG or SG and you get a report back that talks about how bad his REB, LP, & SB are, and with the right conditioning program you can improve his endurance. "ARE YOU KIDDING ME?' What kind of idiot comes back with a report like that? When you send the asst coach out for a guard you want a report on his SP, BH, & PASS, probably his DEF and if he is a SG, you may want his PER also.  A report like that is down right insulting and makes you want to jump through the computer and strangle someone, let alone being a complete waste of a scouting report and the money you just spent to do it.

I'd think that would be part of #2 hopefully

I've always said if they fixed #5 -Improve the logic for tournament selection/seeding, the job process would make more sense.. Its funny how they think changing the job process is more important then fixing the tourney selection... Tourney success and job changes go hand-in-hand.

I'm glad they're changing the seeding logic.  Last season, my underdog team upset three  top 20 teams to make the NT as a #16 seed. Then I had to replay the team I'd just defeated in the CT final

I don't think they're saying that one is more important than the other. They're both on the list, and I don't think that 1-10 is meant to be taken as an order of importance in any way, shape or form.

Gameplanning needs to be addressed.....
Allowing a coach to set the fatigue settings for each player for each position he plays....ie player 1   fatigue of getting tired at sg   and fairly fresh at sf etc...
Respond to player complaints with stuff ..."I know I promised you 10 minutes a game but you have shown no improvement in your defense and bring that up a bit and you will see the minutes I promised ...something along those lines....
Most of the changes that are proposed are really mostly cosmetic...the game function and in game adjustments need to be addressed more..
Who to call a play for at end of game etc.
Have the ratings carry more weight in the important categories  ie.....Stamina, IQ   etc
Just my 2 cents....

The way I'm reading it is, #2 is the report you get after the first exhibition game from the asst coach. I'm talking about during recruiting when you send the asst coach out on a scouting trip.

Fast break and press should be seperate options to utilize during a game under certain conditions (or always if that is your choice), but not classified as an offense.

From developer chat 7/2/09...
Any update on whether the Fastbreak offense will be replaced or eliminated? I read a few forum posts about this topic and was wondering. (jaisonline - Hall of Famer - 1:20 PM)

I think it makes sense to change how fastbreak works. It's really more of a strategy or style than an offense. It probably won't change for this next release, but eventually it will likely be phased out as an offense and become more of a strategy setting.

Was going to pull this up myself... I have said this for a while as well... get rid of the way it is now.

Let's get back to the original suggestion.

an idea for #2- the bar graph that shows player ratings on the player's profile should have a faded bad stacked on top (perspectively to the right) showing approximated where the player's potential is. you only get to see this bar for your own players obviously.

a mix of this

and this

Logic for "Future Stars" recruiting Service should include the Off and Def his current team plays and give a hint at IQ in those phases of his game.

This would be interesting, honestly I am not against how it is now so you have to use all your resources to figure out what a player is like.

I'd still like to ask for some sort of indicator of whether ft grade is improving or not...
