Your fanhood is blinding you to reality. Until Notre Dame eases up on the academic standards for student athletes they will never "be Notre Dame again." I'm not a Notre Dame fan, but I hope they don't do that. I'm pretty sure if I were a fan I'd still want my team to uphold it's high academic standards even if it means Brian Kelly and an incredibly cushy NBC contract can't make my team a true BCS contender.
Notre Dame wouldn't be "Notre Dame again" without keeping their high academic standards. Some schools would rather stay true to their core values than sacrifice them to become a football factory. There's a reason why ND is a more prestigous football school than, say, Georgia, Arkansas, etc.
It's only Brian Kelley's 2nd year and he already has ND well on its way to BCS contention. It takes time to undo the mess that Charlie Weis made.
And this is coming from a USC fan
