Career Stats and Records Team Names Topic

Bare with me on this one I'm trying to wrap my head around this idea myself but if you think about it I will think that you all will agree with me.

I've been playing WIS for a long time and with Dynasty I will not join a world that has already been established b/c there is no ownership in the team that I am taking over. There is no attraction for me with the history of that franchise. If a world is in season 10 and there were 10 owners in one teams slot. then when you look at the records and career stats there will be 10 different city names. This is what I mean by there is no history to enjoy.

So what I suggest is to default all records and stats to the current teams city. So if one player was with that same teams (slot) for the 10 seasons then it would show in his records and career stats the current city instead of the 10 other cities.

Now go ahead and show the owners thats fine.

If a player was on a different team then thats fine too show that. But go by the slot that it in in.

Again this is 100% the reason I won't join another world that has started already I've done it in the past and I just didn't care about the team like I do the one team that I have had since season #1 and is now in season #22. I have real ownership with that team.

Now if this change does get added to the game and I were to join a new world and all of the records show my new city (example Cincinnati) then there is a little history with that. Most of us here are stat nerds thats why this game is so cool to us.

I am interested to here your thoughts on this??

You need to see the city names to put some context around the stats.

For example: you're looking at a FA pitcher.  You check out his ratings, then you check out his previous season's stats.  His stats are average at best when compared to his ratings, and his profile appears to indicate that he's spent his entire major league career in San Diego (an extreme pitcher's park).  Yet, in reality, he's spent his entire major league career in Colorado (an extreme hitter's park).

So in context, his stats may have been pretty good for Colorado.  But you wouldn't know it, because from your point of view, he's been just an average pitcher in a pitcher's park.

i personally don't care at all what some schmuck did with my franchise in the past, and i mostly can't wait to obliterate all pre-existing team records when i inherit a new one.

I like this idea. I agree it can be pretty confusing today. How about keeping the city the same but changing the knickname to be the same throughout? This would provide some historical reference while still providing some continuity.

This is one of the reasons that I have chosen to only play in MLB theme worlds where the teams remain constant, irregardless of the GM.
