Got my last scholly e-mail at 8 PM yesterday. It was the "really on the fence right now, can see myself playing for you next year, just can't decide yet" e-mail. In the past I've considered myself behind when I've gotten that one. Since the 8 PM cycle I've dumped a bunch more into the guy. No new scholly e-mail, but the FSS note from 2 AM says he is "definitely leaning toward" my school.

So what gives? Am I ahead on this guy?

"Definitely leaning" = you're ahead.  Did you make a phone call to get a new response?
