im starting my first season in HD, and after a couple of seasons in GD i have a decent understanding of the IQ system. But as far as GPA..... if i recruit a player with a 2.4 GPA should i set his study hall as high as 20? if so, when he gets over a 3.0 what can i set it at to level him off and keep him there?

I use the old formula someone came up with.  Take 4.0 minus his H.S. GPA.   That's how minute I start with, with a maximum of 13 minutes.  Freshmen GPA is much more volatile than for upperclassmen.  

If he gets a 3.0 at midterm, with 13 minutes, I may drop him to 10.   If he gets 'yellow-lined' i.e. academic warning, I'll add about 10 minutes to his setting for the next semester.

I believe if his work ethic is lower, you may need to drop a couple minutes extra of SH on him.
