  • Made the following tweaks to the postseason selection logic:

    - Increased value for winning the game

    - Less weight on opponent rank

    - Less weight on score margin

    - Less weight on last 10 games

    - Less weight on conference tournament results (those games are still included in the normal schedule results evaluation)

Also, score margin is now being adjusted for the pace of the game, so a 50-30 margin is considered slightly more impressive than a 90-70 margin.

  • Improved new tournament seeding logic to better distribute teams from the same conference, preventing early round matchups.

wish they had tested it more first - like by posting samples of the application of the 12/1 changes to some real seasons (which could have detected the issues)

but this is strong, fast adjustment

I think it's a good change.  It's nice to see the fast adjustment.  Now if we could only get another color for maxed out ratings...

Very good to see seble listening to us and making a necessary change very, very fast.

I've gotta give seble credit here -- he listened, weighed the feedback and made what one might call a strong, fast adjustment.

Kudos, seble. Thanks for listening.

Not to sound ignorant here, but could someone better explain this:

  • Made the following tweaks to the postseason selection logic:

    - Increased value for winning the game (What game are we talking about? I.E. the Conference Championship Game)

- Less weight on opponent rank (Your last game played?, or for the season?)

- Less weight on score margin (For the last game played?, the Conference Tourny?, the whole season?)

- Less weight on last 10 games

- Less weight on conference tournament results (those games are still included in the normal schedule results evaluation)

Also, score margin is now being adjusted for the pace of the game, so a 50-30 margin is considered slightly more impressive than a 90-70 margin. (This I think is a long over do change, KUDOS for this one)

  • Improved new tournament seeding logic to better distribute teams from the same conference, preventing early round matchups. (I like this also, but would also like if we could some how add the same premis for teams you played in Non-Con of the regular season. As in not playing them until at least the Sweet 16).

Question: If I beat #15 Team A in non-conference, and they end up with a 70 RPI. Does that count as a win versus the #15 team in the country come tournament slection time or against #70 team?

@ court: I'm pretty sure that references this line from the 12/1 release notes:
  • Improved logic for tournament selection/seeding. The new logic will go through each game and score it based on outcome (win/loss), opponent rank, opponent RPI, margin, and location (home/away/neutral).
In other words, the answer to your first bunch of questions is "every game."  As far as your last point, it might be nice but the RL selection committee pays only a very small amount of attention to that.  If possible they'll avoid it, but you still see it all the time.  And sometimes a rematch is fun.

Not sure if I like this one way or the other until we see how this plays out, but thanks Dahs

Regular season rematches don't bother me. In RL, there's the psychological 'revenge' factor but that doesn't apply here.

It does too apply here.  My Oklahoma State team, despite being only S16 or second-round-caliber, has played Temple something like 5 times in the last three seasons.  The coach of Temple's a former conference mate (Maine briefly when I was at Vermont) - there's an added mustwinnitude to that game each year, even though it's already an elimination game.

I like to think that my players care more, too.

I think this was addressed in the dev chat or in sebles comments in the thread on the 12/1 release and I think the answer is that it is final rank/record/etc that matters
