Promised start - will WE go back up? Transfer? Topic

I have a player who I have started 18 of 26 regular season games (I promised start when recruiting).  After the 8th missed start (towards the end of the regular season) his WE dropped 27 points and I got the angry letter threatening to leave... I have since started him the final regular season games... and plan to start him in the conference tourney.  Does anyone know chances of WE recovery?  Chances of transfer (which I would doubt)?

Your under 80%, which is the number you need to be at on starting promises I think

I just had a similar thing, though with fewer missed starts (I think 5 total). My guy dropped from 33 to 19, then added 1 the first game I started him again and none til the end of the season (about 4 more starts). Then, when we lost in the NT (he started), he sent me an email thanking me for living up to my word, and his WE restored to 33.

Not sure that will happen with your guy due to a lower number of starts, but wouldn't be surprised either way.

Timing is everything.... so this AM I got a letter saying "I am a man of my word" --- WE restored to near original.  He is down -4 on WE now, but I can live with that.

For the record - I did the math and he was at 69.2% with starting 18/26 games.... but flipped to 70.3% when I started him 19/27... and now he is almost 100% happy.

Looks like I need to keep him above 70%

varies from player to player - based on something that is set into them in terms of personality and also the exact timing of the missed starts and you effort to get him starts

generally, if you start him consistently after he complains I think it works

I can't recall when, but I remember hearing *(and I think from Seble) that there is a metric to measure a players happiness after the e-mail that doesn't really regard what happened before.  Wish I had time to confirm my memory on that one.

Interesting...I'd always thought it was 80% for everyone, but this semester I have a Frosh who began complaining at 90% of his promised minutes.  After he got back above 90% his WE restored.  May be interesting keeping him above 90% but we'll see...  Anyway, saying it varies player to player is consistent with what I am seeing.

I had an issue earlier this season and the number is actually 60%. However by playing him there is no increase in risk of injury.

2 different things - the original quoted text is referring to what percentage of games played do players with promised starts have to actually start to stay satisfied. I believe this varies by player to a degree. The number you provide refers to at what level of health a player expects to play with regards to both explicit recruiting promises and minute expectations by class (which also vary to a degree player to player).

I assume that it only applies to freshmen when a start is promised - let me know if that is an incorrect assumption. Also, a player must start between 90-95% of games to stay happy and once this is done (after player is over 60% health) the work ethic will go back up. The problem is that it may be too late in the season to give him enough starts to regain his WE.
