It seems like top offensive players are being left off of allstar teams becuase of the current allstar selection process that weighs defense and team winning % too highly..
The current qualifications are...
The following criteria is used:
SP - innings pitched, earned runs, strikeouts, shutouts, wins, and losses
RP - innings pitched, earned runs, strikeouts, saves, wins, losses
1B/2B/3B/SS/LF/CF/RF - runs created, good plays, poor plays, errors, team winning percentage
DH - runs created per 27 innings, plate appearances, team winning percentage
C - runs created, good plays, poor plays, errors, passed balls, team winning percentage
I am fine with wrapping all of the offensive stats together in the RC stat, but why not also do that with a defensive WAR, or Total Zone runs stat.
And why would team winning % matter, teams that are winning will most likely have allstars already, there is not a need to have this impact the selection.
We just had our All star game in the ShowII and the NL had 22 allstar selections from the top 4 teams.
