Quick pull-down question.
I am in DIII and love a kid a little far away. I want to pull the kid down, but it's quite pricey at his distance.
For pulling a kid down, is it more dependent on number of scouting trips or total money spent?

Scouting trips.....

It's hard to pull down guys more than X miles away (I think X equals 70 but that is just my opinion) because of the cost.   I would recommend  either waiting for him to drop down or looking somewhere else.

Number of trips -- you don't get recruiting credit for dollars. All things being equal, if you spend $700 on a scouting visit and someone closer spends $200 on a scouting visit, you've both made the same impact recruiting.

most pulldowns happen around 10-13 evals. If you can afford that and like him, go for it. Sometimes they take more (sometimes many more) so if you can't afford up to say 25 (most D 3s probably can't at distance) than be prepared to give up and cut losses and/or sign a backup for $110...no risk, no reward.

How far away? That might help get a few more answers that pinpoint your question.

approx 500 miles away. Signings have started and he just started considering another DIII school this cycle, 1/3 prestige letter above me. Anything I can do to keep him from signing until he drops to me? Without giving much more away, and assuming he also waited for him to drop, how many cycles could I be waiting?
