How hard is it for a pulldown to agree to redshirt

It can be done.  I've RSed ranked players before in D2.

Yeah, you can do it.  Is your team good?  I haven't ever had a player reject a RS, I think that is because I only RS when my team is established.

I just did for the 2nd straight season; I also just redshirted a D2 guy on my crappy D3 first year team

If you have older guys ahead of him on the depth chart it will be easier

Don't even put him on the depth chart.....or if you do (for the exhibition games) make sure he is 3rd or 4th.

Do you inform of the redshirt during recruiting though

On a pull or drop down, I never inform.  They'd most likely call you crazy or get mad and no longer consider you.  Even worse, if you later inform of non-redshirt during recruiting and then try to redshirt him, he may bring up the point about you telling him that you wouldn't redshirt him and then it will be near-impossible to redshirt. 

I only do it on guys who I'd only take if they would redshirt.
