There is no "backup plan" on this message.  Should I back off?

"He showed a moderate level of interest in us coach. He wasn't sure how well he'd fit in here. Can you 'do' anything to help convince him?"

That means he is open to your recruiting efforts. So, recruit as normal!

Yeah - that's a total green light - he's yours if you want him.... (depending on whether or not you are battling anyone for him of course).
