Which Ballpark? Topic

I'm curious what others would choose for a ballpark for this team.  It's a $200 million cap, which is by far the largest cap I've ever drafted. Who knows, maybe at this level ballpark choice is irrellevant.  I've drafted very good defense.  The offense is quite left handed at the top of the order.  Perhaps I'll move Hornsby to #2 and Ashburn to #7 moving the rest up and down accordingly.

I've listed number of double/triples/HRs OBP AVG and projected lineup order.

B. Hamilton 25/15/4 .404/.523 (Left)
R. Ashburn 24/13/2 .350/.440 (Left)
B. Ruth 44/16/59 .378/512 (Left)
L. Gehrig 52/18/47 .373/.474 (Left)
R. Hornsby 43/14/25 .424/.507 (Right)
M. Mantle 22/5/52 .353/.464 (Switch)
Platoon
J. McGraw 13/3/1 .391/.547 (Left) & M. Williams 17/1/23 .336/.399
L. Boudreau 34/6/18 .355/.433 (Right)
E. Howard 17/5/21 .348/.387 (Right)

My starters are:
'12 Johnson
'15 Alexander
'10 Walsh

Couple of thoughts

1. I would choose a pitchers park, everybody hits in a high cap league, help the pitchers out.
2.   Williams, Boudreau and Howard are going to get killed at this level.
3. It's okay to be lefty heavy, the high cap pitchers are predominantly right handed.

Any particular park you like for this team?  Who would you use instead of Boudreau?

I'd go Safeco to help your pitchers....

Yeah, Boudreau is always horrible for me. I'd go with Arky if you can put him low in the order or you have a roster spot for a backup. Otherwise I have always liked Jennings. You probably have a fair bit of walks, and some triples... Petco maybe? Or if you think your pitchers are up to Chase, AT&T or Comerica you could use one of those.

The more I look at it, Mantle and Ashburn aren't real strong options.   Once you get above 160 million you should just take the best hitter, defense be damned.

If you have the roster spots, one of the OF positions should be a collection of the Ted Williams, Ceaser Cedenos, Bob Hazle types.

EDIT:  Or Bonds/Ruth/Williams.

I chose Boudrea primarily for his defense, since he is an A-/A.  Arky is awesome. His RC is 30 points more than Boudreau, but he does make about 20 more errors.  With that said, the 20 more errors may not necessarily lead to 20 runs given up so the extra RC is probably nicer to have. I already have a backup SS anyway. I was afraid my lineup would be too left handed and I'd never tried Boudreau before hence my decision. I was on the fence between the two so I may take your advice.

I chose Mantle and Ashburn because both are A/A+ OFs and Hamilton is too.  All have really good OBP and I like Mantle's power.

I'll wait and see if I get anymore feedback about the ballpark before I post which one I decided on.  I didn't want to sway anyone's opinion one way or the other.

My thinking on Matt Williams is that he is mostly a defensive replacement for McGraw.  He does have good HR power so I have the option of starting him aganst lefties as well.  McGraw does have 590 PAs so he will get most of the playing time and he does hit lower in the order so he shouldn't fatigue that much.

If this league includes pre 1920 players, I think you need to redraft your entire team. I don't play caps that high, but you have a lot of players who will disappoint. There is a reason guys do not draft power hitters from the modern era, you are about to find out what that reason is. I also would consider some modern era starters. I have done very well in 120m caps with 2b and 3b teams in the Palace of the Fans. That is the park i would recommend, and draft a team to fit that park. It will make you smile.

Defense at high caps isn't worth it.

when they say there is a "manual draft" for your AAA players, what does that mean?  i am finished with assembling my team in a private league, and before i send my team in officially, i am being told that i have the option of drafting some AAA players.  but I don't see how to find that pool of players.  clicking in the AAA draft section simply brings me back to the pool of real major leaguers that I used to assemble my team in the first place.  any suggestions?

Gevalt - That pool of real major leaguers will be who you chose from for your AAA players.  Make sure to manually draft them.  You can get exactly who you want that way.

BTW, that league disbanded, so I won't be using that team anytime soon.
