In the Phelan World, the USA South Conference just sent 8 teams to the National Tournament. We have had the highest RPI for at least 5 consecutive years. We have long-term, active coaches, including two with over 800 wins in Phelan alone (Windixies and Karrmann), and my team Palm Beach Atlantic has won the National Tournament twice in the last 4 years.

We have three vacancies right now. All 3 teams have had human coaches in recent years and are solid teams. Because of the strength of the conference and the huge recruiting bonus dollars, a good coach should be able to establish excellent programs at any of these schools.

The three teams are Oglethorpe, Christopher Newport, and Averett.  Their records this year are not that impressive, but they all have a good base to start with because all of these teams have had human coaches recently.

We are hoping that next year the conference will be full. Just by sending 8 teams to the National Tournament, all schools in the conference will receive an extra $2,000 in recruiting dollars, and for every game any of us win, an extra $250 will be added to each team.

It is a great conference and we would love any of you to join - but bring your "A" game :)

Update - we now have 3 of the sweet 16 teams, and so far we have racked up $4,000 in bonus cash for all of the teams in the conference to use for recruiting, which is huge for Division 3. You definitely want to take one of these 3 teams. It is a very fun conference.

There are now two teams left - Averett and Oglethorpe. We have two teams in the Elite 8, so all teams in the conference will now receive $4,500 in bonus recruiting money. This will help a new coach land some very good players. Combined with the strength of the conference schedule it's a situation where a good coach can build a strong program quickly. 

Averett will have 5 open scholarships this year (two from Walk-ons), so they will have close to $20,000 to recruit with. (maybe more if our two teams keep advancing). The players that are returning are good, so you have a good base to build on. Averett is in Danville Virginia, which is on the border of North Carolina and would be a good recruiting area. They have only been without a coach for this year. in recent times.

Oglethorpe is located in Atlanta. I have coached there in a different world, and currently coach at Emory in Tarkanian, which is also in Atlanta, and have found it to be a rich recruiting area. They have been without a coach for 2 years. They only lose one senior and two walk-ons, so you have 3 open scholarships, which would be $9,000 plus the $4500 minimum from the bonuses earned by the 8 teams that made the National Tournament. You will have 5 seniors next year, which should help you have a successful first year to build on.

Awesome! Glad you could join Chattkia. You have a very good record and will make a great addition to the conference. We have one team in the final 4, so now the pot is up to $4750 for each team. I am shooting for back to back national championships. Hopefully someone out there will take Averett, and we will have a full conference again next year!

That's great. Ebenezer is returning to Averett, so we are full next year. I am not sure who ended up taking Christopher Newport. My Palm Beach Atlantic team is back in the championship, so all teams will end up getting $5,000 in bonus money for recruiting.
