DII Shooting Guard Topic

For defensive purposes I am thinking about switching my 2nd string SF and starting SG.   My current starting is a scoring machine but has a 28 in DEF....he's killing me.

The SF has:

ATH: 67
SPD:  54
BH: 54
PASS: 67

and a D+ IQ in my OFF set.   He LP and PER in the 30's so he isn't a scoring threat.   I play a pretty tough DII schedule.

He currently averages less than 1 TO per 25 minutes, his distro is VERY low....(it might be zero)....is he going to be a turnover machine if I put him at guard?

i'd leave it alone if it were up to me.  in the last 3 games his opposing starting SG is only shooting a grand total of 11 for 32...so i'd say he's not killing you as much as you think.  maybe you've been giving him some help with DT's but i think that's a very viable strategy if you have one weaker defender amongst your starting 5.

as you acknowledge, part of the reason your SF isn't turning it over is because he doesn't touch the ball...will he be a turnover machine at SG?  i don't know about that, but i'm not sure the better defense you're going to get (and with his low speed relative to most guards i'm not even sure how much of an upgrade it will be) is going to be offset by his 0 offensive production

Why not put Brown at SG?  Or maybe you could rotate Rahm and Hutt between PG and SG and put Rahm on the weaker offensive player.  You can still give him the same distro at the 1, but you could possibly avoid the bad matchups.

Thanks guys both those comments helped alot.

I just moved Brown to SG ( I forgot  he was good)  and put Rahm as my backup to PG and SG.   My next game is against a Press team with good offensive guards so I'll try the Hutt/Brown combo in the back court.   When I play a team that doesn't have a scorer at guard, I'll sneak Rahm back in.
