help me with my lineup Topic

I'm 2-5 so far with Johnson C Smith, and can't figure out the most effective places to start my mediocre players. I have two senior bigs who obviously know their roles, but I'm having trouble making the best out of what I have to play the 1, 2, and 3.

My PG, SG and SF slots are all occupied by underclassman-- is that why we kind of suck in those positions? I turned basically all my players 3 point to -1 because no one has higher than a 57 PE rating-- we were shooing below 30% before that.

Wnorowski's PE rating is going up every game, he will be a 3 point threat soon, but for now I have him at PG with 55 BH and 46 passing. But my freshman Johnson has lower ATH/SPD but a higher Passing rating at 62.. any value in playing him at the 1?

If anyone could take a second and look at my team and tell me what they would do at PG, SG and SF.

Looking back i did a lousy job recruiting(for the most part) this year, and once my two bigs graduate it's looking like it's going to be a long road for me to get good.

Any tips appreciated!

I hate to say it, but your team is just going to be brutal this season.  The shortest route to your team being competitive would be to just feed starts and minutes to the underclassmen that have high potential.   You have actually done a decent job getting ATH & DE, but that would be more important to emphasize in a M2M defensive set, than in zone.  Here are some thoughts:
  • I would make the starting lineup out of your top ratings improvers: Conley or Rasmussen** (PG); Wnorowski (SG); Johnson (SF); Wright (PF); & Bundy (C).  Mixon would still be assigned big distro and get 20+ minutes off the bench.  Mixon will be more effective with fewer minutes.  Lane gets shafted.
  • If those underclassmen have big potential in DE, then you should switch to M2M.   You would continue to play zone through the NC schedule, but practice M2M at 25 minutes for the rest of the season and start playing it during the conference schedule.  Another important reason to consider this is that your REB will be god-awful next season.  In a zone, your team will get wrecked on the boards, but might stand a chance playing M2M.
  • With only 10 players and mediocre team stamina, you probably need to play fatigue settings at fairly fresh and slow it down (even if you stick with zone).
  • Set Johnson & Wnoroski to zero on 3 point shots, but everyone else at -2.   Wnoroski will get better 3pt shots playing the 2, than 1.
  • Next season, try to get a C with REB that will finish at 90+ and ATH 65+ and a PG with BH & P that will finish at 80+ each.   The only benefit to continuing to play zone is that you would be able to consider recruits with poor DE ratings that you would have to ignore in a M2M defense.
**The choice of PG is really all about which one has the bigger BH/P potential.   If the are about even, then alternate their starts and see how they do.

I understand these suggestions are fairly drastic, but I suspect that this would give you the best result once your sophomores are seniors.  If you hope to salvage this season, you'll ignore my advice.  Good luck!

P.S. for my tastes redshirting a guy with a 3.66 HSGPA is probably counterproductive with any WE loss.  I like to use it on players with poor HSGPA so that they have a chance to get to A or A+ by their senior seasons and I have a chance to give them SH minutes during the redshirt season without worrying about the opportunity cost too much.   I doubt you could take it off and put it back on this point a get the WE back up, but I've never tried it this late in a season.

Wow, I really appreciate you taking the time to look over  my team like that rogelio.

I purposely took over this team because they've been SIM AI for the past 15 seasons, knowing they suck, but I wanted the challenge. Looking back I did a pretty crappy recruiting job this past year. Rebounding is a major concern.

Thanks for the suggestions-- I might consider the m2m switch.

I took your advice and switched to M2M.. w my rebounding will be dreadful next season and with a lot of underclassman high in defense it makes sense. I guess one of the few positives in this team is the majority of fresh/sophs so I have time to develop them and maybe be competitive under Man to Man in a couple seasons.

How long will it take these guys to learn M2M? How long does it usually take for them to move up a letter grade-- a full season?

my freshman on my southwestern team with 25 minutes on iq finished with b- and b's

If you just switched cold turkey, it will be an even LONGER season. I'd say continue running zone, but put minutes into M2M so that they work up their IQs.
