More realistic defense for catchers Topic

If this has been suggested before, I apologize.

In Clemente, we just started season 23. Looking at the all-time career leaders for defense among catchers, we have:

Career negative plays (C): two players tied with 3
Career positive plays (C): three players tied with 2
Best career fielding percentage (C): At least five players, perhaps dozens, if not hundreds more, tied with 1.000%
Worst career fielding percentage (C): Rex Betancourt with 0.989% entering this season
Most career errors by a Catcher: Jordan Matthews with 91 entering this season

- Betancourt is a 26-year old active player just starting his 2nd full season, who has made 7 career errors and whose percentage will certainly improve over time.
- Matthews is a 33-year old active player with over 17,000 innings behind the plate. This translates to approximately one error every 185 innings or so.
- This leaves dozens, maybe hundreds of catchers who played their entire careers not only never making an error, but also never making a negative or positive play over the World's 22+ seasons.

I think this can definitely be made more realistic.  In the play-by-play, I'm always seeing catchers "hold onto the ball following a vicious collision". Why is that not scored a positive play?

Or what about a lead runner beating the throw home, so the catcher tries to gun down another runner at 2nd or 3rd, and the throw goes wild for an error? You almost never see that in HBD.

Maybe a bad throw on a stolen base attempt can be a negative play. Not a throwing error, mind you. Just a poorly placed throw where the SS (or 3B) is not able to properly apply the tag due to the throw's location? This can be directly tied in to arm accuracy.  Right now for catchers, arm strength and accuracy only affect caught stealing percentage and throwing errors, with little to no effect on +/- plays.

By the same token, maybe a perfect throw on a base stealer with a strong jump can be recorded as a plus play?
