Will every player that tells you that you're a backup eventually drop or do you have to make some effort beyond offering a schollie and coach call (ie, pull him down)?

some won't, because they'll be recruited by someone at a higher level than you...

i meant assuming that no external factors existed that would prevent the drop down, such as being recruited from a higher level (prestige or division) team...

I have had some of those players never drop.   I could be because a higher level team started to recuit them but didnt spend enough to be considered.   Not sure.
