COF / CF / 2B Who goes where... Topic

SS / 3B are already full with better defenders.

Player               Range               Glove          Arm S          Arm A
A                         86                         76               62               53
B                         87                         82               58               67
C                         79                         76               80               72

As of now I have:
A= 2b
B=CF
C= Corner outfield, depending on the handedness of the batting lineup I'm facing.

Would a different combo work better? Such as C at 2B and rotate A through the COF...

I'd keep it just like you have it.  I don't typically see as much of a benefit to having plus corner outfielders at the expense of an average 2B.  2B gets significantly more opportunities to make a play during a game than a COF.  In fact, I might even consider playing A in CF and B at 2B if the pitcher you have throwing has a high groundball rating.

They all throw right handed....

My contemplation with changing the 2B and the COF is to lose a little in range, and gain in the arm categories.

You'll get plenty of plus plays, and few errors (probably below league average) from A at 2B, some + plays and few errors from CF, and a lot of plus plays and very few errors in COF with A-2B, B-CF, C-COF.  I haven't found a great arm does much at 2B, and you'll lose the range plus plays (maybe get a few - plays).
It wouldn't hurt my feelings to have C at 2B, but if I have A and the bats dictate all should be in the lineup, A goes at 2B, C at COF.

From my experience, Range determines the majority of plus plays.  I haven't seen much of a correlation between Arm Strength and plus plays or even DPs.

I have the impression that a strong arm actually does help at 2B, but I must admit that it is anecdotal, and based on this one player:

Standridge did not have great range or glove, but did have a very strong arm.  He was really a 3B I had to  move for roster reasons.  And he did an admirable job at 2B (.981 fielding pct, 15 + plays, and only 1 - play over 320 games started).

In my opinion having C or any of those guys play COF is a major waste of defensive talent... C should be a 3Bman, and have a masher playing COF either RF or LF.  RF makes so few defensive plays that I hardly worry about his DEF.  if you have 2 mashers that are a bit better then a 1B defensively put the best one at RF and the other at LF.  Basically don't fret about defense (at COF) is what Im saying...

Ideally, you'd want a CF with awesome range to go with two slugs in the COF spots I would think.

You must have missed the part where I said I have a good defensive 3B already. Here he is:

The guy Im moving around COF is a masher

I could always consider moving the masher to 1B? and moving my 1B to the COF rotation spot....
