It's coach hiring time in my world, and I noticed this description, which wasn't exactly how I had it in my head.

 - This is the coach's discipline rating. The higher the rating, the more focused he'll be on the fundamentals such as bunting, throwing strikes and hitting the cutoff man. Of course, this means he'll spend less time on some of the other important aspects of his role.

I always interpreted discipline more as the hardass coach that motivates guys by yelling and making them do wind sprints. With this description, I almost take it as more of negative for minor league coaches who I'm hoping will spend more time developing the hitting, pitching, and fielding ratings of my guys.

What ratings does discipline affect?  Bunting is the obvious one from the description. Does hitting the cutoff guy count as throwing accuracy rating? Or are we talking about more of a team defense performance? So, something that we should disregard for the most part in the minors and just make sure our ML coaches have it.

To me, it tells me I'd want a guy with low discipline in the minors so that he spends his time improving the skill ratings. Then, focus on getting high discipline coaches in the ML to make sure they're doing the "little things" that win games.

I've always thought of discipline affecting eye, arm accuracy and control from the "important" ratings.

Of course, I'm just thinking back to my coaches yelling at me.

"GODDAMMIT, MIKE, MAKE HIM THROW STRIKES!!"
"GODDAMMIT, MIKE, HIT THE DAMN CUT-OFF MAN!!!"
"GODDAMMIT, MIKE, GET YOUR *** BACK IN THE OUTFIELD!!  YOU CAN'T THROW STRIKES FOR ****!!!"
