Instead of going through 25 rounds of drafting in this league the Expansion Championship progressive we should only need 7-8

rounds.

In rounds 1-4 you draft units.
The units(or parts of teams) are as follows  Infielders,Outfielders & Catchers, Starting pitchers (the top 5 pitchers listed after you load a  team) ,relief pitchers.  You can only take players after you load a team.

Draft from the following 1st year expansion teams and their Championship counter parts

1961 Angels,Senators,Yankees,Reds
1962 Mets,Colt 45's,Giants,Dodgers
1969 Expos,Padres,Royals,Pilots,Mets,Orioles,Braves,Twins
1977 Mariners,Bluejays,Yankees,Dodgers
1993 Rockies,Marlins,Bluejays,Phillies
1998 Devilrays,Diamondbacks,Yankees,Padres.

So for example the first round might go like this:
First pick  1969 Mets starting pitching
Second pick 1961 Yankee outfielders & catchers

We will do a snake style draft for the first four rounds and whoever joins first gets the first pick or defer to a later pick.  I will have the last pick in the first round unless somebody wants it.

Round 5 & later rounds will draft individuals to complete our rosters.  Order will be determined by total salary(lowest to highest) through the first 4 rounds and will also be snake style.

This will be a 24 team traditional WIS league with no dh, no waiver wire,no salary cap & below average minor leaguers.  Clones will be a necessary evil.

2 Parity Pete Rules

1)  We will always realign the divisions so that we can have as many new teams as possible make the playoffs.  so in year 2 we will put the 8 playoffs teams from year 1 in the same league and divisions.  We will continue this process until 21 teams make the playoffs and then start a new cycle.

2)  If you win 81 games you get the first pick in the draft.   Tiebreakers will be closest run differential, then closest WHIP to league WHIP.

Future drafts

You will draft an incoming rookie class from an expansion team or championship team.
So in year 2 you will draft from the
62 Yanks,reds,angels,senators
63 Giants,Mets,colts 45's Dodgers
70 Mets,Orioles,Braves,Twins, expos,padres,Royals,brewers
78 Yankees,dodgers,Mariners,Bluejays
94 Bluejays,Phils,Rockies,Marlins
99 Padres,Diamondbacks,Yanks,Devilrays

In year 3 you will continue to draft the incoming class of the expansion teams but the Championship teams may be different
63 Angels,senators,Yanks
64 Mets,colt 45's Yanks, Dodgers
71 Pirates,Reds,Orioles,Twins, expos padres,royals,brewers
79 Yankees,dodgers,Mariners,Bluejays
95 Yankees Expos Rockies marlins
00 Yankees,braves Diamondbacks  devilrays

Order will be determined by (see parity rule above) or by worst team, teams that lose 100 games or more will be put at the end.

there will be a secondary draft for leftover players (you cannot have more than 25 Players at a time) and the order will be by teams with most wins.

Shortage of players:  If this occurs we will draft 200 K players from 1901-1910

I know there are a lot of non traditional rules in this progressive, so i hope every one keeps an open mind and gives it a try.

STADIUMS:  You will use the ballpark from the team of your 4th pick, if that ballpark is already used we will go to the 3rd pick etc..
If you lose more than 100 games 2 years in a row you can move your team.  If we need a replacement owner he has the option of moving his team.

I will play. Not sure I understand all the rules, but I like the concept.

Ok great, any questions ask away, if you want the first pick you can draft your unit now.

I'm interested.  A bit confused, but I want in haha. We draft a unit from any time right?

After ERNE6 goes you can draft or defer.

I'm looking for owners who are interested in  Progressive Leagues, but do not have the time to do a 25 round draft, or are unavailable (due to work restrictions).  This concept should eliminate missed picks or proxy problems.

Any questions let me know..

I'm in that boat. Don't have time for time for those big drafts, being deployed and all. I'm down for sure.

Question, If I draft the 62 Dodgers pitching. Do I get the 63 Dodgers pitching in the next season?

4/14/2012 9:53 AM
You keep the players from the first season going into the second season.  So if in real life MLB a guy gets traded or becomes a free agent you will not lose the guy the next season.  Nor will you get somebody because he was traded to the Dodgers.

What are the keeper rules, IR rules, salary cap, trade rules, etc?
4/14/2012 11:08 AM
This sounds pretty interesting.  Sign me up!

No salary cap,
Normal Ir rules
There will be no keeper lists but after the first part of the draft you have to get back down to 25.
Example:  You draft the rookie class of the 1970 Twins which includes Bert Blyleven ,Bill Zepp,Paul Ratliff and Danny Thompson.  Assuming   that no one on your roster
retires that will give you 29 players.  So you would have to cut 4.  Now you won't have to keep all 4 twins, you can keep Blyleven and cut Zepp,Ratliff & Thompson and one on your current roster before the second part of the draft.

Trades:  You can't trade draft picks, the way this is set up it really wouldn't work, and at the same time no one can blow their future and cut out.
