Check out my Smith resume. Is it D1 caliber? If so, what might I qualify for? If not, what more will I have to do to qualify; and what levels might I expect to reach upon qualification for the big time? I've been at the D2 game for a while, as you see, and enjoy it and will coach my Northwood team for at least another year - but am just wondering what it takes to move up as I'd like to get there. Thanks for any discussion that is sparked by this thread!

Since the job qualifications now take into consideration a ten season time frame, my guess is that you'll have to make the NT next season to have a chance to move up.  Even then, I'd guess low level D1 jobs.  Maybe, with a deep run, a mid major job, but I think it'll have to be a really good season to get there.  My two cents.....

i think make the NT again and you're set for a low level job.... make a deep run and a mid-major might open up.

but IMO a low major job in a full conference is better than a mid-major job by yourself.

Thanks for the feedback, gents. I do qualify this year for a number of D- and D prestige jobs. I have to think another year at Northwood to get my rep back up (it's B+ now) helps me get some mid-major looks, no? Maybe it'll take an NT run or a conf. title?

the rep will only help a little... cnof title won't hurt... but another NT appearance will be the kicker... that's what will help the most

Ok.  Given the ten year time frame. . I am not intending on moving on from Florida Gulf Coast - and I hadn't been looking -  but what sort of division one jobs would the resume qualify for when I look?

High mid-major easily, maybe a lower end BCS school.

arssang, with 800 wins, I'd be surprised if you weren't qualified for a lot of B+ BCS type of jobs.  The engine's logic rewards longevity, and you certainly have that at FGC.  Have you ever looked in previous seasons to see what you were qualified for.
