How does a coach appear during hiring that hasn't been in the world for several seasons. The position just had a name appear, no mention across the wire. Just wondering

inactive coaches can put in a request to be hired just like anyone else..... and since they aren't leaving a school to become vacant.... it does not mention on the wire.

I thought if you were not active in a world it was after hiring closed, it then filled avaliable jobs if someone was interested.

if you are inactive, you can still apply for jobs like everyone else.  if you don't get hired, you can then select from any unclaimed team.  that way if one of the top coaches takes a season off, he doesn't have to settle for leftovers, he can have equal chance to get a good team that opens up.

I don't know how it works, but you can also reserve a team in advance.

you can think of that as reserving in advance - or as reserving after the hiring process has concluded....
