Every year I hate seeing my all conference (and sometimes All American) players walk out the door for the last time. It leaves something to be desired, a last hurrah if you will. Here's my idea for a final go-round for the studs of the conference:
In every conference, the 1st and 2nd team members form a team that composes the all-conference megateam. The conference coach of the year is appointed to the head coach of said team, and the megateam from each conference is entered into a one-day, 32-team "Tournament of Champions". Games could be played every couple hours or something to keep it to a one-day event.
I wouldn't want to provide the winner of this tournament with any extra recruiting cash for the conference (as this would most likely increase disparity between the haves and have-nots), but the coaches of the top 3 teams could win game credits or something. Also, what better way to prove conference dominance than to play it out on the court?
Not sure if this is doable from a programming standpoint, but if so I think it would add a very cool end-season touch to the game. Also for coaches that may not have seen much success during the season, this could make the grind all the more worth it to see their stud players contribute to a championship-caliber team.
Thoughts?
This would be pretty cool, but since we haven't heard from Seble in a few months now, I'd say the chances of anything like this happening are less than zero. I mean, we have been promised that preseason tournaments of some kind were going to be instituted for about four calendar years now, and obviously that hasn't happened. Still, I really think this would be neat.
