Italy Earthquake: Thank you to everyone here Topic

Hi, I just wanted to thank everyone who here who has written asking if we are safe or expressing their concern.

We are fine. I live near Venice, my in-laws near Milan more or less. The quake was south and west of us and south and east of them. About an hour away and woke us at 4 am, but that was true of a very wide area.

One day of tremors kept us on our toes but there has been no damage anywhere near us nor is anyone we know hurt or disadvantaged by it.

I really appreciate everyone's concern.

Thank you all.

Is there a connection to the Alex Liddi grand slam for the Mariner's? He is I believe the first Italian player to make it to the ML. Reno Bertoia was born there, but I think grew up in the US

seamar, an earth-shaking event to be sure ! thanks and thank you also mensu1954. We are fine, a nice, humid northern Italian Sunday morning.

I will try to get locals here to watch some Mariners games.

Actually, we go see baseball frequently, usually Saturday and Sunday. It is, I would say, good level semi-pro with some A level and perhaps an occasional AA talent player.

The other week we saw our local pitcher (good team in our town) pitch 7 shutout innings, and three brilliant defensive plays - one by our centerfielder that Willie Mays would not have been ashamed to make, and two Brooks Robinson like stabs by the visiting team's 3B that led the local fans to a standing ovation even for the other side's player. It helped that we were winning 12-2.
