Jerry West never hits his IRL Topic

I have had Jerry West on almost all of my open teams and many themes and he never comes close to achieving his IRLs...no matter how I structure the team.  Not sure why I keep using him but the teams are generally successful so I keep drafting him.  I wonder if there are other players out there (Baylor?) who have the same problem.  How can I spot them in advance?

This is common with players on fast paced teams.

Yeah - the older players almost never hit their RL numbers on any stat.  There were so many more possessions due to the pace of the game that their RL stats were "inflated" by WIS standards, which they tried to fix by "normalizing" values using "advanced" statistics.

All it really did was nerf everybody pre-1970 except for Wilt.  And it nerfed Wilt, but he's still amazing.  Other than a few Russell seasons, most of Wilt & an Oscar or three, those older players are really not worth using in most league settings.  I feel like you're paying the salary for RL stats they will never achieve (without severely gimping your squad).

Thanks for the input ash.  It makes good sense now that you explained it.  I guess I will have to use West a lot less than previously.

Reggie Miller and Dr. J have disappointed me in the past, although Doc is playing well for me right now.  I gave up on Reggie.

Reggie has always outperformed for me.

Must be because I'm a Bulls fan!  :-)
