If team draws a lot of fouls... Topic

is that a good reason to go uptempo?

My DII team is reasonably fast and athletic and we draw a lot of fouls.  We average 29 FT's a game.

If I go uptempo,  this will increase my ability to get  to the line right?  We are pretty deep (can play 11) and I think my 6-11 guys are better than my opponents.

Am I crazy for doing this?

I'd be wary of going uptemo with those IQs.  More possessions might mean more fouls, but I wonder if the additional turnovers, etc. might cancel those out, or worse.

Isn't it all "relative" though?  I currently turn the ball over as often as my opponents (13.6 to 13.8).   Is there any reason to believe that won't remain a consistent ratio?  I mean the more possessions my team has, the more possessions my opponents will have right?

I think uptempo tends to lead to more turnovers in general, which might be exacerbated by the IQ situation since your lower IQ guys are going to play more.

But I don't know, really.  I'm yapping at you so you get bad info and hoping the smart guys don't show up.

I always wonder why I engage in a conversation with a guy who can't spell llama nuts right...

If anyone else ever read your threads, they'd probably wonder the same thing.

Well, llama "nunts"?  Is there a story behind the ID?  Enquiring minds are dying to know!
